Kindy teacher Robyn Ayres moves to a small country town, heartbroken after her husband and her best friend confess their infidelity. Looking forward to a new start and the new school year, she soon learns that one troubled little boy comes from a dysfunctional family, with his violent father and grandmother pitted against his frightened mother and her father. Then the mother disappears ... and Robyn is drawn into the fight. Intimidated by the unfounded threats against her, Robyn leaves teaching and moves on.
Ten years later, Robyn is working as a camp caretaker on Finch Island, a former leper colony off the Queensland coast. The island is currently hosting a group of ex-military men, who run a boot camp for troubled teens. The latest group arrives ... and there is something frighteningly familiar about one of the young men. Now called Darren, Robyn recognises him as her former kindy student, Aaron. Then the terror begins ...
Robyn escaped the past once ... but can she do it again? And is Aaron/Darren the one she should be frightened of? Or is someone else playing these vicious games?
